The President as the Minister in charge of Central Environmental Authority. Water is a basic need of the the human being.Especially the urban people were deprived of water as a result of this accident and it was normalized after few days.Firstly it affected the consumers of Colombo urban areas & suburbs on 17th of August & then again on 28th of August. The leading company (Coca Cola Company, Biyagama) did not utter a word at the beginning.The CEA had suspended the operational license and later it has re-issued the operational license.The CEA has imposed a fine for the company. The contamination of Kelani river water is a very serious thing as so many thousands of people consume this water given by the government Water Board.It must ensure such incidents do not happen in the future by upgrading its environmental safety measures. It must pay compensation for the damage it has caused to the Water Board as well the consumers. Also the CEA should pay more attention to book the fraudulent who destroy the water resources of the country in this manner irrespective of their status whether they are big multi national companies or small companies.
